Distinguished graduates awarded at banquet

TERRE HAUTE — Ivy Tech Community College Terre Haute hosted a banquet to celebrate 2019 graduates and award distinguished students the evening of May 2. The banquet was held at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

Nathan Tague was presented with the C. Huston Isaacs Award, in honor of C. Huston Isaacs, the first dean and director of the Ivy Tech Terre Haute campus. The award is given annually to an outstanding graduate who exhibits high scholastic achievement and demonstrates a high potential for success in his or her field of study. Tague is a graduate of the Precision Agriculture Equipment Technology program.

Gabriel Roush was presented with the School of Information Technology (I.T.) Award. The award is given each year to a graduate from one of the eight I.T. degree programs who has shown high academic achievement and leadership, as judged by department faculty.

Christine Gauer and Emily Proctor earned The All-Indiana Academic Team Award. The annual award is from Phi Theta Kappa International, American Association of Community College, USA Today, and the Follet Higher Education Group. The accolade celebrates students who have achieved academic excellence at two-year colleges across the nation.

Marlayna Robertson achieved the Larry Lowey Award in recognition of her excellence in leadership, student citizenship, and high success in the field of electronics. The award is given by the faculty of the Electronics and Computer Technology department.

Isaac Radcliff earned the Keri Sharpe Award. The Keri Sharpe Award is presented to a graduate of the Criminal Justice program who has shown outstanding educational devotion and dedication to the program, as determined by faculty. The award was created in memoriam of Ivy Tech student Keri Sharpe.

Dr. Scott Powell was presented with the Carroll Shaver Award for Student Advocacy. This honor is presented each year to an Ivy Tech Terre Haute faculty or staff member.
